a note about upcycled/recycled wool cloth diaper covers

recently i decided to make a bunch of upcycled wool cloth diaper covers. usually it comes from the fact that i pull a 100% wool sweater out of the dryer [that hopefully doesn't belong to me] and realize, "well, at least i can make something useful from it." that's exactly how it happened this time. i accidentally shrunk one of my boyfriend's beautiful grey striped j. crew merino wool sweaters. so i took a trip to the salvation army and look for other wool sweaters. i typically look for ones that are past the point of anyone purchasing for being worn: ones with holes in them, ones that have already been felted, etc. i try to find ones with neat designs on them, and always look for the softest wool possible.

i've added doublers to most of these wool soakers, which allow you to customize absorbency/protection. they're perfect for nap time and night time, and when you're using them during the day, you can leave them out. there aren't any snaps, so you're able to position them exactly where you want them.

speaking of upcycled: there's a really cute fitted diaper up for sale right now as well. it's made from an octopus print on navy blue. it's knit, and very stretchy. it's a regular side snapping fitted, serged in red, finished in red snaps. made from cotton sherpa and cotton velour. it's probably one of my favorite fitted diapers that i have listed right now. size medium.

last but not least - i've listed a second. it's a one size fitted cloth diaper with two small holes on the front. theyve been stitched up so they won't fray at all. this diaper will work perfectly fine and it's only $8!

oh, and don't forget: all wet/dry bags are 30% off right now! no coupon code to enter. all of the prices have been adjusted on etsy. there are some great medium and small bags up for grabs. they're perfect utility bags. not just for cloth diapering, but great laundry bags, play date bags, etc.

update on store stocking and a special donation!

hello everyone!

i know our instock store is looking a little sparse right now, but we've been so busy working on orders, we haven't had the chance to restock.

how to get a husband wetbag

i've been pretty bad at taking order pictures to post, but i'll definitely try to get some good pictures of the current orders we're working on.

next stocking will be sets in most sizes of our esbasic covers. priced as sets, these covers are cheaper than most covers in the market right now. same with our esbasic sets of diapers - including the one that's in my etsy store. they're even priced cheaper than kissaluvs! and the covers aren't just one layer of PUL. they're two layers of PUL, shiny side away from your baby, and are bound in colorful super-soft foldover elastic. we're still offering 2 small sets of three pick your color covers right now. they all come with a small pocket in the front - great for placing prefolds in.

esbasic small covers

if you haven't done so already, please sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of esbaby's custom store page. there's a box at the bottom that says 'newsletter sign-up'. just enter your address and click, and you'll be added to my database. i will be sending out some coupon codes in the near future for instock discounts. i'd like to clear out the store a little to make way for some new products. mostly our one size quick dry all in ones - side AND front snapping. and some new covers [how do we feel about gussets?]

lastly, but not least, esbaby is donating enough diapers and covers to a local program called "starting together" to help three local families cloth diaper their babies. we purchased snappis, infant and regular prefolds [45 pounds worth!] and enough covers to keep their babies in cloth from newborn to potty learning. i'm prepping the prefolds as i type this, and the diapers/covers will be ready to go out next month. esbaby is also donating some 2 size covers as well [a pattern i'm working on currently]. if you have any used diapers or covers that you'd like to part with, and want to send them this way, i would be more than happy to pass them on to starting together. please contact me at christine!@!esbaby.net for more info. for the next two weeks i am offering a special promotion - for every donation you send me, i will give you a free shipping code, good on instock and custom orders in my store. offer ends december 7th.they more cloth they receive, the better. that way, more families will be able to put their babies in cloth - saving them money, and our landfills from disposable diaper waste. don't worry if diapers need repairs - i can easily make repairs to diapers that need them.

starting together is a very important program to me. when i became pregnant with my daughter at the age of 18, i enrolled in the program. a family support worker started making weekly visits to my house, while i was pregnant to discuss what to expect when it came to childbirth, breastfeeding, etc. she was also very helpful in advocating for me when my daughter was born 5 weeks early and was in the NICU in syracuse, ny. she helped me make the contacts i needed to obtain a breast pump, and was there for me emotionally, which was extremely helpful being a young single mother. my family support worker visited me on a weekly basis until my daughter was three - and when i got pregnant with my son, i started seeing her again. through her i spread the word about cloth diapering, and when i worked as a chapter for miracle diapers, we were able to supply some families in the program with cloth. it felt great to give back to a program that helped me and my children so much. and i hope some of you out there will be willing to pass something along as well! [local moms- i will pick up any donations/ moms who i've given free diapers to in the past - it would be great if you could re-donate those diapers either back to me or another family in need please!]

thanks for reading and enjoy your thanksgiving week!

"hello, baby!" custom sets listed on etsy!

hello everyone!

i've had a few requests to do my "welcome home, baby!" sets in bigger sizes, so now is your chance to buy these reduced price sets. i am only going to offer a couple in each size, so get them while you can! [that link takes you to the mediums, but there are med long and larges in stock as well].

each set comes with 6 esbasic diapers and 3 lights out covers. esbasics are made of a white knit outer, hidden layer of sherpa, which is topped with natural cotton velour in the diaper body. the soaker is a 3 layer sherpa soaker that snaps into the diaper body for fast drying times and longer diaper life. lights out covers are composed of an outer colored layer of PUL and an inner layer of white PUL. all bound with white fold over elastic. snaps, thread and PUL colors are [as always] made to match the diapers.

you pick color scheme [gender neutral, boy, gir] and front or side snapping for the diapers and covers. i will choose what colors will go into the set. just let me know if there are any colors you want to avoid when ordering.

thanks!

all in twos stocked!

i just stocked a bunch of all in twos! 3 in each size: medium, medium long and large. boy and girl prints/color combinations. threw some wipes in there as well.

i made an update to the pattern as well. first off, the snap-in/removable diaper now snaps in the back AND the front, which i figured would be better for walking/moving babies.

here's a large all in one snap-in diaper:

snap-in diaper snapped into the back of the cover:

snap-in diaper being snapped into the front of the cover:

front soaker positioning snaps:

all in two all snapped up:

in the medium longs and larges, i made the snap-in diapers with two positions for the snap-in soaker. it can be snapped in the front or the back, depending on preference. in testing for our one-size diaper, i had a lot of positive feedback about the front positioning of the soaker, so i'll be carrying this option through with all of my diapers from now on. the mediums listed on etsy only have the back positioning for the soaker, as i made the change after i made these diapers.

one size diapers are coming soon!

quick dry all in twos

below is a size newborn quick dry all in two [QDAI2]. it's essentially an eswrapping cover with a snap-in diaper. you can order eswrapping covers and choose the AIO option if you already have snap-in diapers or if you may order snap-in diapers in the future. the snap-in diapers can also be ordered from my site as refills for your covers with the AIO option added or if you already have a QDAI2 and want to add more snap-ins to your diaper stash.

the pictures are: the QDAI2 all put together, the snap-in diaper front and back, and the inside of the QDAI2 with the diaper laying inside it. this diaper is really trim. it's made of cotton sherpa and cotton velour [organic options are available].

cloth diapering overview

hi everyone-

for those of you who are thinking about cloth diapering or know someone who may need a little help, i've re-designed my cloth diapering overview so that now you can click on the images and download the PDF version and print it if you'd like. they're not as colorful [to save on printer ink] but they're a little easier to read. i'm also working on the cloth pad over and a 'how many diapers do i need' informative sheet as well. i'll post when i get those up. here is the link:
