busy day!

so today i drove down to ithaca to drop a batch of AIOs off to mama goose, a great little shop where you can bring in your baby's old clothes, sell them and get store credit for anything you'd like [especially cloth diapers!]

i've been working on some custom orders [which i'm still open for, btw], but i promise to work on getting my store restocked soon. i know it's looking a little bare over there right now, but i have a bunch of things planned. july will be a good month for instock stuff. i have a few ideas. aannd, i'll be working on drafting up a one size pattern, as i said previously.

also, there are a couple of esbaby review/giveaways going on right now for AIOs. one over here at "our life upstate" for a QDAIO, and one at "look what mom found" for a true all in one. i did decide with both style diapers to take out one of the layers in the soaker to make it more trim, and i think they've turned into pretty great, trim daytime AIOs. if you find that you'd like the extra layer in the soaker, just let me know and i'll put one in for you at no charge.

diapers and cupcakes

i'm headed down to ithaca, ny tuesday to drop some AIOs off to mama goose. there will be 2 newborns, and at least 3 in small, medium and large. gender neutral, girl and boy prints. some are true all in ones, and some are quick dry all in ones. so if you live in the area, please stop by to some esbaby diapers in person!

in taking a little break from my custom orders today, i sat down to this wonderfully delicious looking post from design*sponge, one of my most favorite blogs of all time. if i didn't have so much sewing to do, i swear i'd make those cupcakes right now - if not only for the chocolate cake itself. but then there's the frosting. my espresso of choice? black cat classic espresso from intelligentsia. for those of you who don't know me personally, i'm a little cupcake obsessed. i even have one tattooed on my right wrist. i think as a kid, cupcakes were one of the most exciting things to have. a tiny, perfect little cake that you could have all to yourself.

now, back to work.

july, july

so this month [except for the beginning of the month] has been a little humdrum here at esbaby. i know i haven't stocked the instock store nearly as much as i have wanted to, but i blame that on getting my custom orders out in a timely fashion. but that will soon change. customs will still be out in a timely fashion, of course, but i'm going to go into overhaul this next week and start pumping out some major merch for the instock store.

things i plan to do in july:

more cute/awesome boy prints. i'm working on it. i promise.

make the instock switch from my etsy store to my actual website at esbaby.net. i love etsy just as much as the next person [its clean design and easy checkout - and really, i'm totally etsy obsessed], but i don't love the fees that come with it. and in order to keep my prices low i need to make the switch. so next month [i'll announce when it happens] my site will be geared up for instock items. there will be a separate button to place custom orders if people want. it just seems to me that people aren't into customs as they once were, but i could be totally wrong about that. so i'll definitely still offer them, but in a slighty different, and hopefully less confusing way.

one-size diaper pattern. i'm definitely going to start working on getting a pattern together. nothing is going to change when it comes to my other products, this will simply be added to the things i already offer. i realize that these days people are looking for one-size diapers because they want to make one investment in the beginning of their diapering days, and let it carry them through potty learning. with us, we were never one-size diaper fans. my son was in mediums from 6mos to about 3years, until the rise started getting a little low. then we had a few medium longs. so my allegiance, for the most part, has always been with sized diapers. but to tell you the truth, i'm pretty excited to tackle something i've never tackled before. coming up with a new diaper pattern that will fit from size small through large. something trim and absorbent, something i can offer with lower cost non-organic materials, and something i can also offer organic sustainable materials in. something for everyone. there will be more details on this as i start working on it. i'll be calling for testers, so watch my twitter account, here and facebook. i'll probably need 10-12 testers, and we will work very closely together to get an esbaby one-size diaper out there that hopefully everyone will enjoy.

i'm getting an assitant! come july 1st, esbaby will be hiring its first ever assistant. her name is morgan and she'll be working with me part time to take care of some of the non-sewing aspects of my business [bookkeeping, taxes, web work, etc]. i can't tell you how pleased i am about this. by having her here helping me, i will be able to focus myself 100% on sewing and pattern design, and not entering information into quickbooks! yay! as always, i will be the first line of communication when it comes to customer service, because i feel responsible for every diaper that leaves my sewing room. and i will be doing all the sewing, too, of course.

that's pretty much it for now. i recently finished up some pretty cute custom orders, so check them out on my flickr page. beyond that, happy cloth diapering my fellow friends! more updates to follow.

quick dry all in twos

below is a size newborn quick dry all in two [QDAI2]. it's essentially an eswrapping cover with a snap-in diaper. you can order eswrapping covers and choose the AIO option if you already have snap-in diapers or if you may order snap-in diapers in the future. the snap-in diapers can also be ordered from my site as refills for your covers with the AIO option added or if you already have a QDAI2 and want to add more snap-ins to your diaper stash.

the pictures are: the QDAI2 all put together, the snap-in diaper front and back, and the inside of the QDAI2 with the diaper laying inside it. this diaper is really trim. it's made of cotton sherpa and cotton velour [organic options are available].

preemie cloth diapers

i do offer preemie sized diapers, even though they're not on my site. i'm not sure why i don't have them listed, but it's probably because i've only ever been asked through email to make them and they're sort of a specialty item. sometimes parents need specific sizing, absorbency, closures, etc. also, most hospitals [are there any?] don't allow the use of cloth diapers, so parents are typically looking for the diapers when the baby comes home. the preemie pattern that i offer has a rise of 11" and a waist that goes up to 14". i can adjust this in any way, though, and they cost $2 less than newborn diapers. just thought i'd let everyone know!

esbasics change

lots of changes over here at esbaby it seems. i've been meaning to post about this for a while, but haven't had the chance. i've really been torn about the esbasics because i need to make them time/cost effective for me to do and i've had some people ask me about customs or when i'll be stocking more, so i've decided to do them this way.

esbasics:
-they're going to run $10 for nb/sm and $12 for med/large as instock items

-i will offer them on a custom basis with a price break if ordering more than 2 dozen total [the 24 does not have to be all in the same size. they can be 12 smalls, 12 mediums, etc.] and i will only be offering them on a custom basis in multiples of 12. so in order to get a custom esbasic order, you have to at least order 12.

-they will now be made with 2 layers in the body [sherpa and cotton velour] and 4 layers in the soaker [sherpa and topped with cotton velour]

and who knows, i may even get around to making a dozen here or there for my instock store and include a price break.

they're now available for order in this way on my site.

final price does not include shipping. shipping will be based on location and weight of the package. turn around time may run closer to the 4-6 week mark for bigger orders. we will discuss the details: quantity, sizes, colors, snap placement, etc through email and i will invoice you through paypal for these orders.

the new esfitted and etsy is stocked

hello everyone!

first off, i've made a pattern change to our esfitteds. they're now trimmer than they were before, without sacrificing the absorbency. they're constructed of an outer print, a hidden layer of fluffy cotton sherpa, which is then topped with a layer of cotton velour. the velour is what will touch your baby's skin. the quick-dry soaker is made of 4 layers of sherpa and then topped with another layer of cotton velour. the organic diapers are made in the same way, except the velour is organic bamboo velour. so you get a diaper that is lined with OBV every time you purchase an esorganic diaper.

i've changed the wings on the front snapping diapers so they're thinner. i simply took the patter from my covers and altered them slightly to get them to work on the fitteds. front snapping diapers have a longer row of snaps across the front, and the wings have an additional hip snap to prevent sagging and drooping. and as it's always been with all of my diapers, the snaps are hidden away from your baby's skin. there picture below shows the hip snap and longer row of snaps.

and last, but certainly not least, i've stocked my etsy/instock store with a bunch of different things. dress sets, diaper bags, wetbags, AIOs, fitteds, covers and pads. if you order multiple items and want a better combined shipping total, email me and let me know and i can invoice you for it through paypal.
